HISTORY OF THE LIBRARY

The MUBS Library was established as a result of a merger between the faculty of commerce (FOC), Makerere University and the national college of business studies (NCBS) in 1998.By the time of merger, the library had an area of about 400 square metres covering both reading and storage space and a seating capacity of 350 students. The library stock at that time was approximately 65,000volumes

In 2012, the president of the republic of Uganda, His Excellency Yoweri Museveni Commissioned a magnificent Library which is now the current main Library. The current main library building is located at the north end of the campus in Nakawa. It has got an area space of 7,200 square meters spread over five floors with a Seating ccapacity approximately 1,200 students and stocking area of aapproximately 4,000 square meters dedicated to housing collections.

The main Library currently has six sections namely: Technical services section, Reference and Circulation section (including open and Reserve section) Research and Institutional Repository section, periodical /Serials, Information and communication Technology/ Digitization, Special collection and French corner.
