MESSAGE FROM JINJA CAMPUS LIBRARIAN

The campus library collection consists of a wide range of physical resources. Our print books and journals are in subjects such as; economics, business, marketing and management, human resources, accounting and finance, statistics, research among others. The library’s collection, also has dissertations, magazines and newspapers, research reports from students. These resources can be accessed while on campus. However, the library is in the process of automating its resources whereby some resources like eBooks, ejournals, and databases will be electronically accessed off campus.

On behalf of the entire library team, I welcome you to the MUBS Jinja Campus Library, whether you’re here to study, research, or discover new ideas, we are dedicated to giving you the tools, assistance, and resources you require in order to fulfill your academic and professional ambitions. BACKGROUND

The library which started its operations in one of the lecture rooms (room 1) with a stock of two thousand two hundred twenty two books (2222 books) and a sitting capacity of eight (8) students, with no internet, there was no qualified librarian since the library had two library attendants that had different qualifications at that time, has since then registered serious tremendous developments like shifting to the big room with the sitting capacity of approximately one hundred (100) students, this has also seen the increase in the number of books in the different subject areas and apparently the library has a stock of over six thousand books, there is internet and a qualified personnel in the field of library science which has seen the revival of the library with all its services like Classification, Cataloguing, Shelf-rectification, General reference services as well as User orientation and Education.

The library focuses on being a world class facility equipped with ICT that offers users flexibility in accessing information without limitations. Apparently, the library looks forward to increasing on its stock so as to provide users with academic and non-academic information materials that supports the curricular and research needs at all levels of business education with a purpose of becoming the leading library in Busoga sub region and the whole of Eastern Uganda.

Mission

To support business education, research, and innovation by providing timely access to relevant information resources.

Vision

To be a leading library in Busoga sub region and the whole of Eastern Uganda in advancing knowledge and supporting entrepreneurial growth through innovative information services and dynamic learning spaces.

Library Services

Apparently, the library performs the following functions and activities;

  • Orientation and User education to new entrants
  • Classification and Cataloguing
  • Charging and discharging of library materials.
  • Shelf rectification
  • General reference services
  • Current awareness services (CAS) & selective dissemination of information (SDI)
  • Register, issue and renew students’ library membership cards.
  • Attend to / respond to students’ inquiries
  • Providing a conducive environment to students’ revision.

Operating hours

The library is open from Monday to Friday that’s from 8:00am to 9:00pm and on Saturday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

NB: The library is closed on Sunday and all recognized public holidays.

Library staffing

Apparently, the library has four staff of whom three are female and one male.
